Creator of art, creator of opportunities

It can get tiring waiting for that perfect job to come along. At times, it may seem like there's no place for you in the art world! Everyone seems to have their own corner except you. But I've been thinking about the idea of being a creator, and how it often means creating artwork and also your own opportunities. It can be easy to get down and out about there being a lack of places to really apply your skills and give your services! But the more I think about it, the more I started to realise, maybe I just need to go out there and find my opportunities, instead of thinking it'll just plop into my lap by chance. I was reading articles about how other illustrators got their work recognised and many of them had to build those relationships. They had to strike out and chase, pester, persist in order to get people to listen. I've never been great at that. All my life, I would call out once, call out twice, and then decided that if nobody listened, well, that was my lot in life. But what about not taking "no" for an answer. This concept was FOREIGN to me. But it seemed the far better alternative than sulking in self-pity, wondering why nobody cared about my what I had to offer. I've never been one to leave this world with the legacy of "unreached potential." It's important to me, and I think it should be for every artist, to live a full life, always fighting for a way to express themselves and put something out in the world. That's what we were made for. To create and express.
I hope you never live your life wondering what could have been. If you have doubts, seek it out, and see if it blossoms into something! If not, you'll know for sure that it was never a case of wasted potential. So create art, and create your own opportunities! Reach out to people, companies, agencies, friends. Show them what you can do for them! Don't be shy. Speak up! Don't be ashamed!
Till next time, ciao!
